Joint venture partners INPEX and Total have made a final investment decision on the multi-billion dollar Ichthys gas project.
This means jobs for Territorians, opportunities for local business and a boost to the economy.
At the peak of construction, a workforce of nearly 3000 will be needed to build the onshore facilities, which include an LNG plant, a condensate plant, product loading jetties and a 300-megawatt power station. Read more...

INPEX and Total have secured buyers for the gas from their multi-billion dollar Ichthys project. This week five Japanese power corporations signed a Sales of Purchase Agreement with Total and INPEX in Sydney. Under the agreement, the companies will share in four million tonnes of LNG each year from 2017 to 2032.

Thousands of trees will be planted along Top End suburban streets as part of a $1 million Northern Territory Government Greening our Streets program beginning this month. Twenty Darwin and Palmerston suburban streets will receive landscape and tree planting as part of the million dollar community investment.

Territorians are being encouraged to shop local and support Territory businesses through the relaunch of the Territory Government’s Buy Territory campaign.
The Buy Territory campaign is about keeping money in the Territory and people in jobs. When you buy local, you’re not just supporting one business, but the whole community. The campaign also helps achieve the 2030 target to continue growth of the Territory economy.
